Office of the Provost
Welcome to the Office of the Provost
“Colleges need to prepare students for society as it exists, not as we wish it existed. At the same time, faculty and administrators should work in thoughtful, reflective ways to develop programs that are consistent with institutional values and that seek a better society for tomorrow.” — Provost Timmerman
The Carthage College Provost is responsible for the leadership and administration of academic affairs, and the allocation of all academic resources at Carthage.
David M. Timmerman has served as Carthage Provost and Chief Academic Officer since Aug. 1, 2018. An accomplished scholar, teacher, and administrator, Provost Timmerman came to Carthage from Monmouth College in western Illinois, where he served as dean of the faculty and vice president of academic affairs.
While at Monmouth, he oversaw the development of the college’s academic program and worked collaboratively with faculty to create successful interdisciplinary programs in global food security, global public health, arts management, and peace and social justice.
